
Meet the chef
Chef Andy Beynon is a British chef who grew up with Italian family roots. He began learning in kitchens at just 16, inspired by cooking traditional dishes at home. Over the years, he honed his skills working under Michelin-star chefs like Matt Weedon, Phil Howard, Claude Bosi, and Michael Wignall.
In October 2020, Andy opened his own restaurant, Behind, in Hackney, London Fields. It's an intimate, 18-seat “chef’s table” setup where guests sit around the kitchen and watch the food being prepared. Despite opening during the pandemic, Andy and his team earned a Michelin star after only 20 days of trading.
Andy’s cooking focuses on seasonal, seafood-led dishes that are both creative and simple. He believes in connecting with diners and letting them see the kitchen in action. Beyond cooking, he also gives back—hosting charity meals and supporting local causes—from his own experiences receiving help early in his career.
